Why did we create Wycc?
The seamen are not always aware that they do not have suitable guarantees in case of illness and events affecting their health during their professional activity and private life.
Firstly a difference should be made between seamen with or without a general social security cover.
The seaman with social security insurance should check if it gives him an accurate cover and if not subscribe to additional guarantees.
The seaman without state social security insurance should check that the guarantees subscribed to are up to his needs. (WYCC Assistance & Health)
It is necessary to be reminded that insurance policies subscribed to by ship-owners for the whole staff on board can be of 2 different types:
The P&I, as an additional cover for the ship hull and civil liability which covers the staff when on board.
This guarantee operates in most cases only for emergency care, accident occurring on board (evacuation to the nearest hospital, hospital care cover)
The P&I is not a health insurance plan, covering the seamen’s needs.
The private health insurance subscribed to by the ship-owner is unfortunately not always comprehensive; it doesn’t include various professional situations and does not meet the seamen’s needs:
No cover between 2 jobs; on leave (paid or unpaid)
Dental care for accident related expenses only
No eye care
No cover for repatriation when on shore (only when on board)
Impossibility to subscribe individually to guarantees that the ship-owner doesn’t wish to pay for
No assistance for the seaman in his daily private life
WYCC has been created to face those situations and to offer an accurate solution what ever the seaman’s status.
How WYCC has been created
WYCC is a product and service concept exclusively targeted to all persons having a yachting activity individually or in a corporate structure, on board of Yachts or Cruise ships.
WYCC is based on ILO standards.
It has been designed for duly authorized navy professionals: captains, crew placement, crew members, and insurers in order to respond to the needs and requirements of all.
All guarantees available on the market have been carefully studied to offer the most comprehensive service.
WYCC provides protection and security for the professional and private life.
All seamen can subscribe to WYCC whatever their nationality, gender, age, ship flag and Yacht location (Marina).
The ship-owners can take a part in premiums payments (fully or partly).
We have the answer to your needs (other than health) and offer it on an individual basis. It is for the ship-owner to choose whether he will take part in those additional guarantees (pension, financial services and insurance for the family…)
